God doesn’t waste any of your seasons. If you’re in a painful one, one full of transition, one where you’re busy and don’t feel like yourself, all of it is preparation✨I finally feel I’m entering a season of joy, but it has come after a long season of waiting, of fighting through hurts and darkness. There were days I though anxiety would overwhelm me. And then gradually I woke up to the realization that the season had shifted, and Fod was using all the wounds and healing to provide healing for others✨You are not stuck. I hate to say it but “Good intentions are not enough when it comes to God’s calling on your life.” You know you are called to a higher purpose, but often if we undertake our mission ill- prepared or without preparation we are bound to fail or cause harm✨Completing the mission God had for you takes grit and grace, preparing, training, and loads of a teachable spirit and self-compassion. You have to be ready to sacrifice and know what you don’t know yet. In the missions world plenty to out with good intentions only to perpetuate the white savior complex or burn out. They wonder why they couldn’t finish the race God set before them and it’s because they didn’t invest the time and humility up front to be prepared✨I want to help you be successful in your mission and to thrive while doing it.

Unpopular opinion: As a working mom, I often feel pulled between these two tensions: the desire to create and the desire to be there for my family as a wife and mother. Our society often demands we choose, it tells us we can't do both and that we must be either Suzy homemaker, or a workaholic mompreneur. But I think we've been sold a lie🔥God placed dreams in your heart He wants you to pursue, even in the midst of motherhood. You have a call on your life, and ignoring it only leads to depression and dissatisfaction. I know, I've been there. Somehow I'm finding a third path, to do both. It isn't easy, it requires everything from me--writing during nap times, juggling the domestic load while going after my career. But I wouldn't have it any other way👏My anxiety and depression decreased once I was able to admit to myself I wanted to be both and began carving out a path for myself that resembled my heart. I’m also a missionary and mothers life coach, an Enneagram 2, an INFP, a speaker, and I live in Puerto Rico. I lived in Uganda 7 years running a non profit alongside my Ugandan partners, and I witnessed the harmful effects of the white savior complex in missions. The white savior complex is prevalent among missionaries, the church, and humanitarian workers and it is simply the belief that white people are here to save, help, teach and protect their non-white counterparts💔Sadly, Renee Bach was one of these missionaries who opened up a medical clinic in Jinja, Uganda even though she had no formal medical training. The results were horrifying with over 100 malnourished babies and children dying under her care💔Her ministry Serving His Children came under fire when an advocacy group @nowhitesaviors tried to bring a criminal lawsuit against her by the mothers whose children had died or made disabled💔Please give a read and share of my following article so we can raise awareness about these issues. This is a very disturbing must watch for all Christians and missionaries about a young girl who went to Uganda and began providing medical treatment to malnourished babies even though she had no medical training. It’s very balanced and you can see her heart and misguided intentions✨I like to call myself a recovering white savior. I too went to Uganda young and I’ll prepared, but the difference being I relied on Ugandan locals to educate me and became a learner and servant vs. one who thought she knew it all. I made a lot of mistakes I hope God can cover, but 34 babies died in one year under Rachel Bach’s care from things that could have been prevented✨It is a wake up call to the church and those in missions/ministry/NGO work that we must do better. We must dialogue with the locals in our host country to learn from them and be laid down lovers, we must not pretend to have skill sets we don’t have, and we must empower local communities instead of taking everything into our own hands because we secretly desire the affirmation and accolades✨I want to write an article about this for my blog— please let me know what about this topic you’d like to see me address. I’m teaming up with a doctoral student from Regent university this week to promote a survey for global workers/missionaries who were psychologically impacted by COVID-19 and may be experiencing traumatic stress from it. These experiences can range from having to emergency evacuate your host country, to going through the painful process of re-entry unexpectedly, to not being able to return to your missions job due to instability or covid-19 regulations✨I know from my experience coaching missionaries that many global workers were negatively impacted by covid-19 and are still struggling because of it. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that to become my truest self, I have to let go of the old stories and old versions of me that no longer serve me. Whether it’s letting go of people pleasing, to abdicating the perfect mother ideal, to releasing the old stories, shame and criticism in my head✨For me as a missionary when I went through re-entry in the States, I had to release the old ministry identity that said my value and worth were based on what I could produce and how much I could martyr myself for the cause. I had to change from the Enneagram 2 “Helper” who thought self-care was selfish, to the Helper who poured into her own cup first. This was pain-staking work, but in it I discovered the real me, when I let go of the expectations of others and found I was worthy because God made me worthy✨You cannot become your highest self until you heal and let go of the past. Oftentimes this is a painful death having to say goodbye to toxic relationships or patterns that harm your nervous system.
