Christianity Today Article: What is a Missionary Kid Worth?

Happy Thanksgiving! As we gather around, may we set a table in the wilderness for those who are lonely, or feel disillusioned in their faith, may we host those who are different from us, who challenge our theological beliefs. May we welcome those who are struggling with grief, or trying to heal from a church or political system who has wounded them. May we offer a seat to missionaries who are feeling lost in transition. May we be Jesus, may we be love, may we be forgiveness. May we feast on God’s goodness and rend the enemy’s plans against us.

I was featured in an article recently by Christianity Today in an article entitled “What is a Missionary Kid Worth?”on the injustices against missionaries, especially emotional, spiritual, and sexual abuse. This is a follow-up to my article “Abuse In Missions: How Sending Orgs are Failing Missionaries.” I hope it will give voice to those of you who have been hurt by the system. I hope it will give us empathy for those who are still fighting to heal from such abuse.

If you’ve experienced such abuse in your missions, please comment below about your experiences. Shed some light in this darkness.
